Questions about official Lucas County criminal records belong with the office that keeps them. The contacts below route court files to the clerk, local reports and bookings to the Law Center, and statewide histories to Iowa DCI. This privately operated site cannot retrieve or change a government record.

This Is Not a Government Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot pull criminal records, run official background checks, remove or correct a record, or accept expungement filings for anyone. For any of those, you need to reach the right government office directly.

Need an Official Record?

Use the Lucas County or Iowa office matched to the record:

  • Court files and expungement filings: Lucas County Clerk of District Court, 916 Braden Avenue, Chariton, 641-774-4421
  • Sheriff reports and booking records: Lucas County Law Center, 48559 Hy-Vee Road, Chariton, 641-774-5083
  • Chariton Police reports: contact the police custodian at the Law Center through 641-774-5083
  • Iowa criminal histories: Iowa DPS, Division of Criminal Investigation, Records and Identification Unit
  • State custody and supervision: Iowa Department of Corrections and its Fifth Judicial District
  • Registry questions: Iowa Sex Offender Registry or the Lucas County sheriff for local registration routing

The Lucas County sheriff does not advertise a separate records division or online request form. Published sheriff counter hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays except holidays, with a noon to 1 p.m. closure. Call 641-774-5083 first, describe the record, and confirm the creating agency, delivery method, cost estimate, and current hours. The research found no universal clerk hours, so confirm a courthouse visit by phone.
